Hi, I'm Ben, founder of Trelawny Production
I'm based in Bristol and I started out making music. Then I found that telling stories with people's voices gave me a lot of what I love about producing a song. The two crafts overlap more than you'd think.
It clicked when I started going out on location, recording stories and the sounds of a place, then taking them home to build audio that takes listeners somewhere they've never been. I love it as much as producing songs.
Today we work with authors, researchers, charities and coaches, producing anything from a simple conversation to a full-scale narrative documentary. You'll work with me directly, start to finish.

Do I need a studio?
No. Most people record at home or at work. In the UK we can also come to you, or you can record with us in Bristol.
I've never done this before. Is that a problem?
Not at all. It's who we work with most. We walk you through the setup and run a practice recording first.
We already have a show. Can you take on the production?
Yes. Plenty of our work is ongoing production for shows that are already running. We fit around your schedule and the way you like to work.
What equipment do I need?
Less than you'd think. The full start-up package includes a microphone and kit that are yours to keep. On the starter package you buy your own, and we tell you exactly what to get.
Can I record with guests who are somewhere else?
Yes. We set you up to record online, with each voice saved as its own high-quality file.
How long does it take to launch?
Usually one to two months. That gives us time to record at least three episodes before you go live.
Do you only work in Bristol?
No. We're based in Bristol and work with hosts across the UK and overseas, mostly remotely.
Do I have to commit to a whole series?
No. The starter package gets one episode made and published, so you can see how it feels. From there you can carry on one episode at a time, or move up to the full start-up package.
What does it cost?
Every show is different, so we talk it through on a free call and you get a clear quote before anything starts. If you'd like a rough idea first, ask for our price guide and we'll email it over.
