Documentary podcasts with immersive sound

For stories that need more than a clean edit. We build them from voices, original music and real sound, so people feel it as well as hear it.

Our approach

Sound that puts the listener inside the story

Voices first

We start with the people. Interviews are cut so the answers play as one story, grouped by theme and free of the questions.

Story editing

We find the shape of each episode: where it opens, what it builds to and what it leaves the listener with.

Music written for it

Every score is original and written to the story. Nothing is pulled from a library.

Sound from the place

Field recordings and soundscapes take the listener there, from a boat off Greenland to interviews recorded on fieldwork in East Africa.

Sound design with restraint

Sound is part of how the story is told, including when it falls away.

A finished series

Mixed, mastered and published, with a website and a launch plan if you need them.

Kalerrâ podcast artwork: mountains reflected in still water in Greenland

Scored documentary

Kalerrâ

Thirty minutes in remote Greenland, drawn from the experiences of artists and scientists on a 2018 expedition. The interview questions were cut and the answers grouped by theme, so it plays as one story, set to original music and soundscapes made from the expedition's own recordings of boats and melting ice. We did all of the post-production, from editing the stories together to the music, sound design and final mix.

Questions

Documentary production: common questions

Do we need to have recorded our interviews already?

No. We can plan the recording with you, or work from interviews and field recordings you already have.

Can you work with recordings made in the field?

Yes. Bitter Harvest was built from interviews recorded on fieldwork, and Kalerrâ from recordings made on an expedition. We restore what needs it and build around what's there.

Do you write the music yourselves?

Yes. The music and sound design are composed for each series.
